Alex Franco has
almost 20 years of experience in the baking industry. His humble
beginnings started in 1986 when he was hired as a Commis I by Hotel Nikko Manila
Garden. A few years later, he became an Acting Demi Chef, then a Demi Chef. His
last employment was at Seabourn Cruise Line Ltd as an Asst. Pastry Chef.

He ventured out to establish his own baking business in 1996.
It was then that Alex's Homemade Cakes was born. In 2001, Alex met a
client, who became a dear friend, and who introduced him to the world of w@wies
(Weddings at Work sisterhood), named Lizette. She came to his house to
book him for her wedding. Her feedback became an invaluable asset to Alex
because it was then that business really picked up. He got calls from a number
of w@wies - both in the Philippines and overseas. He was booked to the brim, and
could barely keep up with so many orders.
He won several awards prior to starting his own baking business including a
First Price in the Showpiece Category at the 2nd Annual Les Toques Blanches
& Puratos Phils., Inc. Bread Baking Competition in 1991 held at the Nomads
Sports Club, to name a few. Here's a photo of his award-winning
masterpiece:

Alex has gone a long way, but amidst his
success as an entrepreneur, he is still the same down-to-earth person whose only
goal is to please his clients, and make friends out of them.
